Funny story on the topic.

At my airline, traditionally, the flying pilot is at the exit door to thank passengers for flying us.

So I flew relief that day and the other FO flew the leg. A fairly petite female FO. So she's at the door saying goodbye to the passengers, I'm standing behind her and the captain is coming up the aisle digging around for newspapers.

The FO says, "Thanks!" and a passenger looks at her, frowns, looks at me, frowns and shouts over our heads at the captain foraging for newspapers, "Hey! Nice landing!"

Oh Awwwwchie.

Had that exact thing happen after rolling it on with a professional sports team in the back. It's one of many reasons I prefer freight.

What's better is if you hamburger up a landing a little, you get busy with some frivolous thing/ make some excuse why you can't be at the door doing the buh byes and you make the F/O do it. lol

For a flight simulator enthusiast, I think the only bigger success than this would be the holy grail of being forced to land an actual airliner when both pilots become incapacitated.
