High Minimums Captain

Hello, I’m still in training for work. So I know that for high mins PIC you must add 100ft and 1/2 mile to the lowest CAT1 landing minimums and that at alternates you must land with the published minimums or 300 and 1 (whichever is higher) but what I am confused on are high mins PIC authorized to land CAT2 approaches? That would help a ton! Where can I find this in the FARs by chance?

Depends on the company and their OpSpecs and which exemption/rules they use. At my place as best as I can recall, we do have an exemption that when applied to the release, allows dispatch to when the forecast is at CAT I mins and also dispatch for a CAT II autoland. We couldn't do CAT III under any rule/exemption until off the 100 hrs high mins.

The OPSpecs exemption is 5549. It allows Cat II approaches for a High Mins captain if they already have 300 hours as PIC or SIC in a turbojet provided autoland is used (all normal Cat II requirements met). They can also use normal Cat I minimums provided they use Cat II procedures (all Cat II requirements must be met).
