Flying to pay the bills? In HAWAII??? Better head over to a grocery store before you even consider that idea, and fair warning: get ready for some serious sticker shock. Hawaii is not a cheap place to live.

When I lived off base from 90-92 we paid $1200 a month rent on a small 2-bd apt in no special part of town. I worked the ramp at HNL part-time while stationed at Pearl Harbor. Everyone that I worked with had at least 2 jobs. Yes it is very expensive, but if I could make enough to 'scrape' by there. I would do it. Nothing beats taking a dip in the ocean on New Years Eve and not having to worry about hypo-themia.
