"Hey! I know that guy!" (Delta Super Fan Video)

I eventually became a pilot just because of the Delta crew that gave me a cheesy set of plastic wings and a tour of the flightdeck back when I was 10 or so. I forget where we were going or what type of plane it was but the Captain spent a lot of time answering all of my silly questions and showing me all the technical stuff lol.

You're a true ambassador Doug. Thanks for everything you do (JC included). :biggrin:
 
I think Derg won the annual "One thing on the Interwebz you Can't Hate On" award for 2016.

Early in the year, too. Like bagging that smooth landing on the first leg of the trip, you can just let the rest of the year slide.

I already showed someone this video, and they complained they hated it because the kid hated on United. You can't make everyone happy.

This kid has too much talent to become a pilot. Seriously. And that's no insult to us. In just the few minutes of watching the video, this kid impressed me on his ability to vocalize how he felt. Most 12 year olds can barely shake their head yes and no in front of strangers and this kid has no fear getting in front of strangers/camera and speaking. This kid is special. I have no doubt he will achieve every goal he has in flying, but I can see this kid doing some amazing things in life.

He would love the airline game I had on SNES. I wish I could find it again. Although it seems he's already past that level of management.
 
I see AA is getting a lot of hate their way, but I have to say that I read Les Abend's article one time about being hired at American as young as he did (27-ish) was because when he was a kid at age 6, he went on an AA flight and the CA handed him a certificate that would entitle him to an interview once he grew older and got the mins. He wrote that he then cashed that interview certificate in 20 yrs later and got the AA interview - and subsequently the job. If true, and I don't think I have a reason to doubt him, that is pretty kick ass for AA.

You should check some of those other uh "let's all be buddies" websites for Pylots. I've been accused of being a "Derg-Worshipper" (spelling mine) more than once.

Of course those people spend 99.999% of their time nerdraging, and are cartoonishly ridiculous examples of what happens when one allows a pathology of "ME ME ME" to slip in to their brainpan. But they exist. I THINK YOU UNDERESTIMATE THE DARK SIDE OF THE FORCE!

Point being, if you run across a young force-sensitive...steer them this way.

You'd think so, but no. Go read the comments on the APC tread in the "United/CAL Merger" subgroup. Those boys are being pretty merciless on that kid. And one or two shots at Derg.

I just read that nonsense. What a bunch of childish, bitter drivel. Seriously, what is wrong with those people? They can turn a banana split into a pile of dog crap faster than one could imagine.

United wasn't savvy enough this time to try and turn the situation around and make it into something positive for themselves. Oh well. And to bag on a little kid who seems very bright, thoughtful and mature for his age, who got a once in a lifetime experience, is beyond pathetic.

It was a good pr move for DAL. Why shouldn't they capitalize on it? The spot was tasteful, personable, fun and positive. Something that people don't get to see enough of these days.

Ha! A couple NeverHappies(tm) at APC are throwing down some haterade? Shocker! :)

You mean the group with the guy that called me a "Jack Wagon" because I dared to admit my humanity by publicly stating that I was a little frightened about upgrading to captain and how I was going to see it as a motivational challenge? For shame, sir… FOR SHAME! :)

Absolutely loved this video. Reminded me a lot of myself as a kid. I still remember being given a tour of a Northwest 727 cockpit in MSP when I was 7 or so years old. I would always ask my mom to tell the travel agent to book our annual spring break trip on DC10s or 757s (back when you had to use a travel agent) and she couldn't quite understand why. I took my first flight lesson when i was 14 and from that point on I pretty much gave up my high school social life to hang out at the airport and learn to fly instead. That being said,I can no longer hold a 1st class medical due to health issues,but I'm hoping to get my ADX soon to get back into this crazy industry. Kudos to Delta for doing this
