"Hey! I know that guy!" (Delta Super Fan Video)

I definitely think United missed a HUGE opportunity. They should have done what Delta did. And give the kid and others a different view of their operation. And basically said something to the fact: "We know we've had some missteps, in the past. But were on the mend, welcome to the new United." Coulda been a HUGE correction! Grats Delta for capitalizing on the opportunity.

Hilarious, but United should hopefully take note and try to make practical improvements to their customer service model.

I won't hold my breath for that one.

AMR is worse than United. Worked and experienced both. I gave my wings to a kid with cancer once. He loved everything aviation. Got back to ORD and asked for another set of wings after explaining the situation. Was told I needed to pay for another set of wings. This was when I worked for AMR.

Numerous other experiences to go along with that. AMR customer service is far worse than United, which is worse than Delta.

I'm sure they will now. After all, AA and United follow what big D does. So now that big D did this, UA and AA will come up with something similar. All the while Delta is moving ahead in their next step of up scaling their service.

Oh certainly. I sent a sob story pleading for human understanding to AA regarding a frustrating travel experience I had with them prior to xmas last month and their was response was pretty much "meh". I'm only arguing for the will or motivation for these giant legacies to actually improve their CS interface.

They're very quick to say they're looking at where they want to be in 2026 and making it happen today in 2016. So by the time the competition catches up, you're always at least a decade ahead.

Can't argue with the kid, man. He knows way more than I do about the biz. :)

@Derg that's awesome! I can totally relate to that kid. I was the same way and still am, just it's hidden inside a person who pretends to have a job. :-)

I watched this video while sitting reserve this morning and didn't think twice about this being you @Derg. This kid definitely got to take advantage of an once in a lifetime opportunity. Reminds me of myself as kid. While all the other kids are playing basketball, etc I'm looking up at airplanes.

I'm all too familiar with that concept. Used to work for AMR. Now work for a regional that flies for everyone. My base only does UA and DL flying. I can see the difference.

For instance...I think our DL 700s are getting reconfigured with in seat power outlets or something. They're doing some work to them, I know that. This was announced a few months back. I'm betting within the next year or two we will get memo about the UA fleet will get remodeled sometime in 2019.

@Derg that was pretty cool. That kid will never forget the trip or your treatment of him.

I can remember watching a Blackbird takeoff when I was a kid, never got over that one.

Dude. That is amazing.

Amazing. I can't imagine being able to do that for a kid who is that fixated on commercial aviation. What a dream come true for both of you. The fact Southernjets knew to come to you the second this project was created speaks volumes about you, man. Keep on doing what you do for everyone.

By the way, I'm with you on the watching yourself thing. I watch myself to critique or of course until the final product is edited. But once that's up, I don't need to see it again. Nothing weird about that. Hell, some of the cast of Airplane! 2 said they never even watched the movie as they knew it couldn't have been as good as the first and were embarrassed to see themselves in it.

With a performance like that Derg could win an Oscar. Just one problem...

Hope Chris Rock doesn't choose to boycott. He'll have a field day as host.
