So there is something going on with Wenatchee? I talked to a QX Capt in SEA recently and he said they were cancelling a lot of flights. Something about the new runway and RNP procedures and tail winds and needing VFR to 12K on departure to keep center happy. I smiled and nodded my head but didn't really understand squat. Well, today, if effected my commute and I had to drive through a snow storm in my Scion FRS and it scared the poopie out of me.

So what's the deal and when will it get fixed?

I was just talking to a friend of mine about this last night. Here's the NOTAM.

!FDC 6/7561 EAT SID PANGBORN MEMORIAL, WENATCHEE, WA. OFARO ONE DEPARTURE (RNAV)... ZARLO ONE DEPARTURE (RNAV)... TAKEOFF MINIMUMS: RWY 30 NA-ENVORNMENTAL. ALL OTHER DATA REMAINS AS PUBLISHED. 1603192045-1610292045EST

I had the same thing keep me out of La Grande, Oregon quite a few times. If the wind was out of the South at more than 10kts I had to be able to depart VFR or no go. We asked the FAA if there were any exemptions from that for medevac flights and the answer was no. About a month later that long list of obstacles in the departure path came out and the NOTAM went away.
 
Are there new wind mills built than no one bothered to consult the FAA about? I.e. Obstacle clearance? Just a guess.
 
EAT is extending the runway by 1300ft, towards the NW end of it..

"On March 20th, the Runway 12 threshold will be displaced 400’ feet to the east with non-standard markings. As a result, the ILS and RNAV (RNP) Instrument Approach Procedures to Runway 12 will be NOTAM’d out of service until construction is completed in July 2016. This will leave the RNAV (RNP) Runway 30 approach the only instrument procedure available at the airport.

There are also associated taxiway closures and back taxi requirements on the runway that may be needed for departure. Please carefully review all NOTAM’s before operating in or out of Wenatchee this summer.

Be advised tailwind landings may be required in Wenatchee due to runway 12 approaches being out of service, so please review those procedures and limitations carefully prior to departing Seattle."

Between EAT doing this, and RDM closing completely for 3 weeks in May, we're going to have our work cut out for us.

Sorry this came around to bite you in the ass...Snoqualmie Pass was no joke yesterday.

Dooood. Had an FR-S (should've always been a GT86) for a few years. Turns out buying one just before your first born isn't "being responsible". I still slung him in the back with his car seat for over two years. I even got a six foot ladder in it. Surprisingly practical. Loved that thing. Best bang for the buck. End of thread drift. Ohhhhh speaking of drift.... :)
 
I love my FRS but not in the snow. It looks cool and gets great gas mileage. Probably the only time I've seen an advertisement and said to myself I gotta get one of those. Got mine the first year they came out.

I could only test drive the automatic because I can't drive stick, but even that was an awesome car. Took a 90-degree turn on the test track going about 75mph and slid into all the cones. The Scion staff came running out laughing and took all the cones out from under the car then waived me on yelling "Go! Go! Go!". Seeing as everyone else drove the cars tamely but my friend and I treated it like a race track, I thought we were in trouble when we pulled up from all the dirty looks from the crowd. The Scion staff, however, high-fived us and gave us a bunch of merchandise haha. Very cool company, most lax and fun test drive I've ever done.

Though I did get to drive Jags all over the runways at former NAS Alemeda where Mythbusters does many of their tests. But I was very much treated in a "How the hell did you get into this event again?" demeanor from the staff.

Haha, I was mostly trolling with that. Sure, a cube would be good for scenic drives and city parking, but I prefer luxury sedans that are nice, but not nice enough to worry about getting stolen/broken into so you can park them anywhere. It's fun to see my friend take turns in his FRS that would send my car skidding across the lane, but driving on the traffic congested and heavily policed Bay Area roadways, there wouldn't be much opportunity to do anything cool in the car without getting a ticket, impounded, or whacking another car. I could win the lottery tomorrow and probably just buy a 2011 Hyundai Genesis. And a neon-green Cube.

Nuh uh. ;)

I'd loooove to get the BRZ just because my WRX has turned me into a loyal Subaru follower (and lesbian in a male body). An STi version of the BRZ would be amazing but I would probably kill myself in it.
