I hope I am posting this in the right area. The other post is locked and I cannot reply.

I was referred here by a friend. I had to register to read the comments, so I haven't had time to read through the whole thing. I would like to say that I am genuinely offended by some of the things I have read. While I am not perfect, I strive to become a better pilot and mentor everyday. Some of you seem pretty jaded and my enthusiasm for aviation seems to upset you. I am always looking for ways to improve myself, so I am no stranger to criticism, but some of the things expressed on this website are downright hurtful.

Everyday I strive to leave the aviation industry a better place than when I entered it.

Let me be one of the first to welcome you! I give you props for having the stones to come here. Most guys and gals here are good people, we do have our 5%ers though. The difference about Doug's site is that a lot of the members actually know each other and get together regularly. It does help to have a thickish skin because we do like to bust on each other. It is mostly in good fun, (remember the 5% :) )

Hi Jeff and welcome to JC. I think more or less the thing many of us wanted to know was about these NDAs you apparently had to consult the airlines. What exactly did you consult them about, giving the fact that you are not a type rated pilot on any Boeing aircraft or an engineer for that matter. Please dont take offense to that, its a genuine question that I feel deserves an explanation to clear up an confusion some of us might have.

Welcome aboard. I hope the forum members will be mature and professional. I look forward to reading a good discussion about this when I have some down time.

It is really quite simple. While I cannot disclose many of the relevant details, I will say that 99% of it was done through networking with training captains around the world.

I would also like to know about the video posted that started the other thread.

Was it a real flap failure? Or was the intent to do a go around in SAN for practice?

Hope this is real and not a troll. Assuming it's real, welcome aboard.

There is no question about your enthusiasm about aviation, only questions about some claims and your tactics.

But some of the things expressed on this website are downright hurtful.

It's easy to be nasty to an anonymous face. I doubt most people specifically mean to hurt, or even insult on a personal level, but I get the feeling that people take exception to your manner and marketing. Your boisterous presentation and the style you appear to train in seems to run contrary to what is considered best current practice in professional flight training by those present, and your "marketing image" seems to present a picture out-of-proportion to your known credentials, which fuels the fire somewhat.

That's not to say that the issues are irreconcilable, nor that these involve judgment of you on a personal level, but I think it's safe to say that several here question your credibility based on your slogans and the manner you present. Others don't see a problem with it. Myself, I'm mostly neutral, except that I wouldn't want to be instructed in that way, nor do I instruct in that fashion... but I can see how others might work well with it... and I also think what sounds arrogant on the videos might be intended as humor.

All that aside, welcome to the forum! There's a tremendous breadth and depth of experience here, and a bunch of excellent people... many of whom disagree, but any of whom I'd buy a beer or two. Including you.

Everyday I strive to leave the aviation industry a better place than when I entered it.

The fundamental job of any aviation professional.

Welcome. ^.^
