What are "Herpes" on the US Master Pilot Scab List??

Yeah, you thought I had a - ummm - problem, didn't you?

A list of scabs

Scabs are people who have crossed the picket line - those practices are frowned upon greatly in the industry! What Herpes are on the scab list I do not know, but scabs and herpes go hand in hand don't they?

I believe HERPES are former captains who reach retirement age, then get a spot as a flight engineer on an aircraft requiring one since they cant actually fly the plane anymore....they are called herpes because they never go away.......

I've never heard that term before!

CAs who come back after age 60 to fly side-saddle are sometimes called 'Ropes'.

So these 'Herpes' guys are scabs who come back after 60?

I have the US Master scab list in PDF format. I did a search for HERPES and found nothing. What list do you have? Is this the Australian-US list? That's one I don't have.

my flight instructor said they are called HERPES....i laughed when he told me the term...dont think its an official term though......i would highly doubt the industry would officially term someone as a disgusting pussfilled sore.

I did think it was the STD thing, but my concern was what is this doing in an aviation thread
