Is there no authentication methodology with ACARS?
Oh no. Just simple 1s and 0s with basic CRC error detection to make sure they get put back together in the right order (and throw out any bad decodes).

Indeed, though with ACARS there's really not anything anyone can do to you that'll screw you up too bad. Send you mean-spirited messages, maybe.There's a little red button on the yoke, it disconnects the AP and then acts as an interrupt if you continue to hold it down. Additionally, the fadec and fbw boxes are likely isolated from this crap.
As long as I can operate the engines and primary flight controls, I'm not worried.

False CPDLC control instructions? Much worse, though I have a feeling that's locked down quite a bit tighter than open-air ACARS.
Even then we still have TCAS and EGPWS. What could somebody do besides cause a diversion?
