It's freakin cold over here. Don't they know what the sun is? LOL. Anyways, my first thoughts on getting here were of iain. I could see him mischeivously roaming the streets. Anyways, On to Dubai in a few hours. Then to Afghanistan where its a pleasant 20 below. Ahhhhh. See ya'll later!

Don't bother going to downtown London for a snack, bro!

if you do, hit it up Indian style!! that's some of the best food there!!

I thought the Indian food was really good there too--I remember it being the only food that wasn't nasty and made with tasteless dough, fat, or blood sausage.

I'm glad i'm not the only one....i lost my appetite there so bad, it took 2 months once i got home to get back to eating with vigor! then again, i was SO sick when i was there, it wasn't even funny...i spent way too many pounds at the harrod's bathroom! haha

If I wasn't so lazy, I'd show you pre "queue to go see the Queens dumb crap" picture and a post "finally got some food after having to trek from Victoria Station to Charring Cross to go eat in a smoky bar" photo.

Needless to say, London wasn't quite the culinary journey that France and Germany was!

You're not going to be like my 11th grade physics teacher and say "it's less hot/it's a LOT of Kelvin!" are ya? :)

in so cal people wear Columbia jackets when its 59F out I remember in ND when it was -30 for a week and it randomly spiked to 50 I was out in a normal clothes (with long johns of course!)

SO hows london Omar? how the ladiezzz

No one goes to the U.K. for the food!!

I do.

Nothing beats the good ol' full English fry up breakfast - eggs, sausage, bacon, fried slice, mushrooms, baked beans, toast, and a side of bubble n squeak.

But most of all I go for my mum's roast dinners :nana2:

Agree. Best currys can be found in Brick Lane, London, or anywhere in Birmingham. I recommend chicken tikka masala balti style.

Of course, most of London is owned by Indians anyway ;)

There's no such place as "downtown London". It's "the city centre" - and please note the spelling of "centre"

(yes, I'm intentionally being a smart arse, but it is Doug after all - hehehe)

Mmmm...black pudding...congealed blood...so tasty. :)

I haven't been to the UK recently enough to compare, but I'm pretty sure I liked the food in New Zealand even less. It got to the point where when we'd drive into a new town, we'd just look up Indian restaurants in the phone book.

New Zealands food is worse?

Potentially. I don't remember British food all that well, but NZ food was mostly pretty bland. And what they called "bacon" was more like thin flaccid ham. But the Indian food there was really, really good.

so what do people go to the UK for?

Well, personally I go to the U.K. to get tormented by my in-laws and extended family. If I could brown bag it every trip, I would. However, as Anita's father is Indian we usually go for Indian food when we eat out.

fish n chips man, fish n chips

Gets old... Quick!

(So does some of their other renowned specialties, like beans on toast and other non-sense :) )

I do.

I must admit, I love a good English breakie, but I think if I had the choice I would do a six piece French toast at IHOP.

Mmmm ...... IHOP!!!

You are spot on about the old Sunday roast though, and my wife does a mean roast.

I was wondering that too. Beans on toast. Who woke up one day and say, "Nigel, I've bloody got it! Lets put beans on a shank of me toast! Buggers! Just like that, Bob's yer uncle!"

Aroo?!
