Headsets???

It is interesting to hear that some people are having problems with the Denali headsets breaking. My first headset was a Flightcom Eclipse that was essentially a predecessor to the Denali. It was a great lightweight headset that unfortunately had a design flaw where the ear cups would break off. It was my understanding that the Denali was the replacement for the Eclipse. When mine broke, I was offered a direct free replacement of a different Flightcom (5DX) or I could pay a price difference from the credit and get the Denali. I took the 5DX, but the customer service for Flightcom was pretty good. I now use a David Clark 13.4 with some upgrades from Oregon Aero and it has served me well for over 5,500 hours of use with no problems or breaks.
 
With the comments on the Denali breaking did it happen in cold weather or was it just one minute good- one minute bad:(. I only ask because currently I am living in PA which is starting to get coooooooold
 
I haven't tried the new DC X11, but I've heard they are jsut as good or better than the bose, and $200 cheaper. Probably worth a look.
 
pga07, please check your PM. I have a telex stratus 50-d for sale, brand new, if anyone else is interested, PM me. I also have a 4 place intercom, also brand new. I don't recommend the bose, as if the batteries die, there's no virtually no passive noise reduction. And IMO, it's not worth $1000. I do recommend anything with active noise reduction.
 
Not matter what people say, theres a reason why the Bose X, TX-50D, and the new DC are so expensive.

If you get anything...get ANR/ENC. Those without it don't know what they're missing.

PS: In my experience the Lightspeed sound/anr is sub par compared to the Bose and 50D.
 
I'm currently using the TX-50D and it sounds great, both passive and active. Sometimes I forget to turn it on and the passive alone is pretty dang good, and when you turn it on......its sooooo nice. The only complaint I have is it is just too big and too heavy. I'm considering giving the new DC a try for that reason. I am a little worried about the lack of passive correction, but we'll see. I wouldn't pay more than $500 for the Bose though.
 
i like my Sigtronics S-68S, seems to get the job done very well with its 23-24dB of noise cancellation. i just ordered some custom ear seals for it and i hope it helps
