Headsets for the 200s

Whichever ones had the flat, walkman style earphones...I think they were the 45s now that you mention it. I never had the earcup Sennheisers
 
Makes much more sense. The 25s are cups and ENC. Smaller cups that go on your ear not over them.

Had me scratching my head there

Because the regional guys can't afford there own headsets :yup:. It's actually true in my case since most of the captains I fly with have neat little headsets and I'm using the company DC's. The CRJ is much quieter than the ERJ though.

When I jumpseated on a 757 they handed me a DC headset, so I assume the company provided headsets are the bulky ones too.
 
When I jumpseated on ATR both pilots used the company provided headset. I've decided put my Bose X on ebay and go cheaper or just use the company headsets

Might as well. You won't use them since you won't be flying more than twice a month anyway =P

I've been thinking of doing the same, as the CRJ does have a pretty quiet cockpit. The Bose does seem to be a bit of overkill, but at the end of the day I just can't bring myself to put 'em up on ebay. I guess that means that my advice is....if you already have the Bose, stick with it.
 
IMO, Bose is overkill for the CRJ, and you're paying for the name. There's plenty of good ANR headsets out there that will do the job for less. Personally, I think Bose was designed for the guy with a high amount of disposable income flying his own GA airplane, not the airline cockpit. I've been using my $100 AvComms lately since my Telex 750s went TU, and it's wicked quiet even with those. I plan on getting the Telex 850s next year for the ANR, and they happen to be about half the price of a Bose headset.
 
I wore the Telex 750 for 5 of the 6 years I spent in the CRJs. Add earplugs, free at just about every station, and you're doing fine. You need the earplugs for the walkaround, anyway.
 
Isn't the RJ only approved for two specific headset models? One model being a Sennheiser and the other being a Telex from vauge memory... why is that??

Yeah, you're right, the only models TSO's for the CRJ are Telex and Sennheiser. . . TSO, TS-Schmo. . . I'm not too sure if anybody really regulates that sort of thing. I'd be willing to bet that those two are TSO'd because that's what the test pilots were wearing at the time of certification.
 
Those of you who have used ear plugs with the Telex 750's, you guys ever have any inner ear pain?

I was wearing ear plugs for one trip with my DC 10-30's, and as soon as we got on the ground I pulled them out and damn did my ears hurt until we got back into the air and climbed through 6000 - and pop - no more ear pain.

After that incident, I'm extremely cautious about putting ear plugs back in.
 
Did you happen to have any hint of sinus congestion around then? I have zero problems with my Clarity's when I am nice & healthy.
 
Gotcha. . .yeah guys, no clue if I had any congestion.

I probably sound pretty ignorant to inner ear / sinus problems, but I've really never experienced or heard of anyone experiencing too many issues so I really didn't know what to think.

I'll give them another try.

But otherwise, the Telex 750 + ear plugs is a good combination?
