Hawaiian Airlines

A few weeks ago I got to fly on Hawaiian's 717 (first time on a 717 and I loved it! :) ) and it got me wondering... The pilots who fly their 717's must have a pretty good gig going. You can go home every night, no overnights, and worst you may get stuck on an adjacent island every now and again. Yet you still get to fly for a relatively major airline that seems stable and has good market share.

What are the downsides?

10+ leg days. Same three or four destinations OVER and OVER again.

Other than that, I can't come up with much.

On that note, the people that live there and do it love it. And if you really like those destinations... great. 10 leg days can suck at some places, but I feel like if they were to be ok anywhere, Hawaiian would be the place. On that note there are always other fleet types to transfer to if you get tired of it long-term. GREAT company to work for, treat employees really well. Opportunities for good layovers in US west coast, Asia, Australia, and other pacific islands...

It was the greatest move I've made. Not at Hawaiian but I love flying around the islands. I even did an approach to 500 above minimums the other day haha!

Thanks for the update. Is there an age requirement because I do not see it in the requirements, but I though I remembered reading it somewhere?

Got into the manual and the only age restriction is the 65. Other than that if you exceed the minimums then you have a chance.
