Hawaiian airlines is cutting free in-flight meals, moving to pre-paid menu

It's all about the stockholders. You might try to offer a premium experience but if it doesn't turn a profit immediately the board will change direction purely for self preservation. WN is an anomaly, they conquered the LC airline market, now they're looking at Delta and salivating.
And that's not working well for them. Up until 2021 I knew a lot of loyal WN flyers. Almost every last one jumped ship.

No one wants an LCC with Legacy prices but less available perks than Spirit (big front seat).

Given an honest apples to apples choice between Delta and Southwest which ticket would you purchase these days?
Delta. Are you serious? How can you even compare them. Delta Comfort vs the Southwest legroom product is no contest.

Seat padding, IFE, the snacks and drinks, the value of Skymiles vs Rapid Rewards, the clientele, cabin ambiance, the gate lounges, INTERLINE AGREEMENTS IN IROPS, ect.

I'd rather fly Delta, but living in PHX, Southwest often has the cheapest and most direct flights. I'm starting a new job based out of SLC here in a few weeks though so hopefully I'll have reason to fly DL more often. I flew them last week up to SLC and their service is noticeably more premium than Southwest.

Everyone, including myself, seems to agree Delta offers the best bang for the the buck. Southwest was the leader in the low cost airline segment but they were undercut by ultra low cost airlines and as a result the experience was stripped down even further to compete. Now they want to pivot to a slightly more upscale experience but instead of playing slap hand with the ULCCs they'll be fighting with the big three. My suggestion is to bring back the beer nuts, they were the best part of flying Southwest back in the day.
