Hawaiian airlines is cutting free in-flight meals, moving to pre-paid menu

Yeah it's confusing. The zeitgeist loathes airline food. But then an airline pulls back from food and then there is much caterwauling.

Reminds me of some of my coworkers: "The Mad Dog SUCKS!" "Gross, I got awarded the mad dog" "They should PARK THAT PLANE!" "Oh it's terrible!"

Then the plane gets parked and now the same people grew wax nostalgic with variations of stickers like:

Don't like Mad Dogs?
Here's a 737-900ER.
Enjoy 8 hour leg in this thing!

In the 70's I would travel frequently unaccompanied on TWA. It was the most amplified time of me feeling "privilege" in my life. Even at 5 years old I knew I was being given special treatment. Usually because grandpa hired a bunch of the pilots and was really well liked, and my aunt was the KC chapter of IFFA head. So I got first class meals, extended cockpit visits, plenty of stewardess attention (don't bitch at me - that was what they were called then! And had height, weight, age rules). Damn the 70's were good. Make TWA Great Again!

I'm guilty of the tomato juice (not a Bloody Mary, more like a can of V8) craving in the air. For some reason a large amount of folks that'd never order tomato juice on the ground enjoy it at 36,000 ft.

If they serve actual tomato juice, that's definitely my go-to as a passenger. But not the Bloody Mary mix, that's just gross. I do drink V8 on the ground though. Not a ton, but from time to time I will. I pretty much love anything with tomatoes.

Last time I flew HA on the morning flight out of PHX, it was just a breakfast sandwich in the cheap seats. Not sure it's something I'll miss given how small it was.
