Hawaiian Airlines Cancels A330neos for 787-900s

Try PHNL-NSTU-PHNL for several months straight because that's all you can hold, leave your house at 2:45pm for a 5ish pm departure with 2 clown captains, you're on rest for the first shift for 2h25 (and thats all you get the whole night), arrive NSTU at 11pm to driving rain, poor condition runway, ATC that's a hundred miles away. 2 hour turn on the ground, then return to PHNL to land around 5am. Rinse/repeat twice a week.
What's NSTU like? We hold it as an alternate on NSFA but I'm yet to divert.

You know, its honestly not THAT bad- it has basically what you would expect from an "isolated" pacific island- runways are a bit rough (the HAL 767s have/had an accelerated tire wear schedule when the plane landed there)... during frog mating season (spring) they will be on the runway by the 100s- and if the weather is windy the surf will wash across the runway as well. The "approach" controller is way over in Apia controlling (non radar) over remote radio, so you have to report vacating altitudes, and try to get in touch with her on the way out. There's a hill about a mile prior to landing that'll drive your GPWS nuts, but it has a red beacon on it that is sometimes burned out (just like the airport beacon!).

Thanks very much. Always wondered what it would be like to divert there. Thanks for the heads up!

I envisioned it more as:
