Back on topic, the engine failure seemed to be handled perfectly! Hopefully the crew can find the recording. I had an incident back in the day going into JFK. Actually made @Derg late for his sign in. Someone on live ATC.net created an audio recording and the consensus was that I sounded competent. Was a good feeling.

No. It was the two landing gear approach back in the RJ. Eventually got it to gravity fall.

Just curious - why 1,500 and not higher for longer glide in the event the other one went out?

If the other one goes out, you're not getting back to an airport. Even if there's a best glide speed for dual engine flame out speed (green dot...I guess?), you're going in the water.
