That was close when you pause the video. It's all fun and games until you take the wing to the face. For all I know that could be the greatest pilot in the world but it still made you wonder if the risk is worth it.

The farthest I've been able to figure out is that sometimes the difference between being brave and being stupid is based only on the need. E.g., rushing into a burning house to save an infant is brave/heroic, rushing into that same burning house to save a CD collection is stupid.

And I say "the farthest I can figure" because that logic can't justify stuff like mountain climbing or single-engine night IFR. Maybe its up to individual perspective of the risks and need. Or there's a steady supply of yokels, like in that video, who don't overthink stuff.

Crap my bad, I tried to look around for any duplicates. I'll see if the mods will merge it.

Anybody have the deets on where this was and what happened? If those guys were on the active runway uninvited, I could see why he got so close. If it was planned all along, I think everyone involved is going to be in deep doo doo.

Considering Mr Pitts was hugging the deck, had smoke on, and side stepped them rather than just going up.... I highly doubt they were uninvited.

Good points all around. I think everyone's initial reaction to uninvited wheely-ing ATV riders and screaming ladies on the runway would probably just be to pull back, not almost dig a wing into the grass...
