Has anyone been to the ATP in Birmingham?

I am thinking of getting my Multi add-on in Birmingham and wondering if anyone has been to this site.
Also, how much do you need to study before you go? Don't they send you something ahead of time to study? How much time in advance would you schedule to have time to go over the material?
Thanks,

Did my ATP written and practical there 5 or 6 years ago.. 'Gordo' the FAA checker is an awesome dude.. Be ready to drink some beers after the ride.. Also he is FEDEX DC-10 Captain so keep his card.. Good Luck!

I can't recommend this site location highly enough. I did my CMEL and MEII/CFII at this site a couple of years ago. Go out of your way to go to this place.

The examiner is awesome. If you know your stuff, he will help you to know it even better. (If you don't put forth any effort, however, he will hook your ride.) Well worth the trip.

Those types are the best examiners. I love a DE who can say "OK, this guy knows enough about this task to pass with no problem, let's take a few minutes to go deeper and teach him something he doesn't know".

Jasper was always a cool location to stop at. The crew car was a limo, but only one person could sit in the front seat and you had to wear the drivers hat. Big Red was there for a while too.

Limo is still there but was broke while I was down there. We drove Joey's truck around instead. Big Red is still there and Gordo flies it at a bunch of airshows and did the Reno air race last year
