Why did you blur out the name? Where did you find this? I'll go tear it down when I get home.
Agreed, nothing wrong with removing the ad from the bulletin board. I see it no differently than walking into an interview at an airline and saying "hey if you hire me I'll do it for half price." It hurts the rest of us.
No man, I was jokingly talking about the one in the OPThen mad props and you should have posted it b4 me
Your thoughts are well done sir and I now cited you, however I did not know this was yours. Google pulled it up

I think I'll call and schedule some lessons. I like to do practice approaches 2AM-3:30AM. I'm half asleep then, so I'm sure I'll do a few things to scare the crap out of him as well.
(that said, there are people I don't charge - high school students for instance, or other CFIs. Would be nice if there were a written code of when freebies are and are not acceptable)
I really like this idea of compiling it. On the day I was hired my boss told me to never work for free unless it was for friends, family, church or charity. As a professional courtesy I also don't charge other CFIs, but I'm not in a financial situation to hand out free instruction to my HS students(that said, there are people I don't charge - high school students for instance, or other CFIs. Call him/her up and act really interested, say you want to get started right away on your PPL and Instrument. Say how you really like them but there is another CFI who seems to have a bit more experience who is also willing to work for free but that they also offered to buy lunch after each lesson. Tell this person that you understand they'd like to build time, so you'd really like to "help them out" by giving them the opportunity if they could "sweeten" the deal a little bit and maybe ask them to kick in about $20 for fuel money for each lesson in addition to buying lunch... See how far you can take it before the light bulb starts to flicker.
Maybe a a few years ago I would be up for really screwing with this guy to create some great internet humor... but I went the lame route. I sent him an email today explaining our thoughts about what he's offering. We'll see how he takes it.
edit: Also, as I work in real estate and flight instruct at this airport, I opted to not create a chance to cause a potential problem in the future![]()
