Exactly!!!

Well, it looked good from the air. Not much gunfire that we noticed, nothing too big burning, and the streets looked intact.

As one domiciled in Columbus I can assure you that you didn't miss much. From the air, the only excitement is if they're landing the 10s on a Saturday afternoon ... you might get a peek at the OSU game.

But I can say the same thing about most of my layovers. Tuesday night was Albany. How was it? Well, it had a Clarion Inn and a Pizzeria Uno. Could've been anyplace on earth and I wouldn't know the difference.

Speaking of CMH, I had a semi-long layover there last month. Holy cow, it was like "night of the comet". We asked the people at the front desk of the hotel where somewhere was for a friendly adult beverage and perhaps some grub and she pointed us to the hotel bar.

Ha!

So we walked out, got accosted by a couple of vagrants around the Greyhound bus station and eventually ended up at... the hotel bar.

Got to watch olympic sand volleyball though. Niiiice! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Ask any airline crewmember what is XXX (city) like. You'll likely get the location (relative to their hotel) of the best (or least crappy) places to eat, drink, and work out. They will most likely also know which hotels have free high speed internet, starbucks coffe, and a free hot meal. Oh, and any hotel offering 50% off food or a 3-2-1 deal is in a small microchip implanted in the respective cremember's brain. You fikkin' to get yo snack and yo drank on? Axe us...we dun already been dare! (I love that Dillta commercial!)

Is there anyone who hasn't seen that (fake) toon add?

Ahhh yeah, CMH. I do not miss that place at all. Spent a year there before that other regional airline stole our contract (joking, FL270) and was glad to leave.

When arriving from the East to land on the 10s, do you still have to fly around downtown for "noise abatement?" Because, naturally, downtown is always the quietest place in a city.

Not much at all going on in downtown CMH except for the OSU campus. Which in my opinion isn't all that special either. Some EXTREMELY nice suburbs around that area though. Lot's of great golf too.

Yeah, that noise procedure is still in place. Basically, they make you turn final over the marker for any runway there. Minor pain, but no big deal. Not nearly the pain that the SNA noise departure is, for example ...
