Gulfstream International Airlines to expand and purchase 20 Boeing 777s
Friday April 1, 12:01 am ET

Fort Lauderdale, Florida (AP) –Gulfstream International Airlines announced early today the acquisition of 20 Boeing 777 Aircraft valued at over 2.5 Billion Dollars. Gulfstreams CEO announced early this morning, “We are excited to announce the acquisition of these fine aircraft and look forward to starting service to Europe once we can get them online.”

The company has also unveiled a new training program to allow those who want to pursue a career as a pilot. Gulfstreams CEO went on to outline this program. “Our training school, Gulfstream Training Academy is ready to meet the demands of those out their in the world ready to make a career for themselves as Commercial Airline Pilots. With our acquisition of the 777 we are offering a new program that will set anyone up for a career in ANY airline once they train with us. For the low cost of $2,999,999*, that’s right for a cost under three million dollars, we are offering a new Boeing 777 training program, the first of its kind in the world. Those in the program will be trained on Microsoft Flight Simulator. The pilots will fly Microsoft Flight Simulator until they rear ends are hurting so badly from sitting down for so long. After they have logged the appropriate time playing Microsoft flight simulator, we will then allow them to perform lavatory services on the 777s before their flights to Europe. After two months cleaning the toilets those enrolled in the program will be ready to sit on the Jumpseat for two Atlantic crossing in the 777. While sitting in the Jumpseat you will have the most important task of obtaining the ATIS information, looking outside to watch the stars, and think to yourself ‘HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA I am a Boeing 777 Pilot! What about those poor CFI Scrubs! I’M An AIRLINE PILOT! I’M AN AIRLINE PILOT! LOOK AT ME LADIES!’ After enrollment and successful completion in our program our candidates will be ready to be hired by any Airline as a first officer on their Boeing 777 Aircraft. Zero time to Boeing 777 in a few months can’t beat that!”

I'll call the 'ole April Fools Day on this one!

Nice try, but a bit far fetched. Also, I would assume a report like this would be unveiled during business hours, not a minute after midnight as soon as April Fools Hits.

Guarantee you that there's at least one person that called up GIA and said, "Hey, do ya'll accept Key Bank loans?"

Hey, at least you had the 'nads to admit it!

Press announcements at 12:01 AM are frequent in the movie, music and other industry. So are midnight releases. Plus, if you're trying to scoop something in another hemisphere, 12:01 AM is more convenient for them. Time zones tend to screw up everything.

As for the whole GIA thing, way too obvious. I didn't even get passed the words "Gulfstream" and "777" before I stopped reading. Now, if it had said "Gulfstream plans to convert B1900 fleet to CRJs" THAT woulda gotten my interest.

They are expanding though.....I believe they bought a bunch of ASA crusty old Brazilias!!!! I've seen them in the sim at FlightSafety in Atlanta

Oh, I forgot to mention, paying $2 million for FS training, cleaning airplane toilets, and jumpseating??? Lets get realistic here!

Somewhere throughout this forum, this has probably been discussed/mentioned before, given how everyone round here (including myself) feels about Gulfstream............but I thought it was worth mentioning when I noticed it.

So I'm looking at a (supposed) master scab list, as of June 04 ( http://www.fracpilot.com/Scabs%20by%20Name%20May04.PDF ). Both the owner of Gulfstream Airlines, and Director of Gulfstream Training Academy are on the scab list.

Granted, this does not surprise me in the least, just thought it was a funny anecdote I could add to this thread.

Man, after looking at more of the list, there's about 6 names, at one time or another associated with GIA. So for any of you who ever scab, there's a home for you at Gulfstream apparently!

Yeah it was my attempt at a little bit of April Fools fun.

Goof•stream is a bunch of SCUM.

In regards to the mentioned scab list, do pilots actually carry this with them and cross check the list when there is a jumpseater? If one of y ou has encountered a scab trying jumpseat, what was the reaction when they were told no-go, assuming they were.
