Gulfstream Hiring?

I take back the bad things I've said since they got rid of that terrible program and wish them the best.

Though it should be said that the "out islands" are not an un-tapped market by any means. Bahamas Air and Western Air flying DHC-8s and Saabs respectively are already waist deep in that market. In fact Bahamas Air puts its tail between its legs every year and asks the Bahamian government to cover its normal 15 to 20 million dollar shortfall. Mostly because of the runs to islands like Mayaguana, Georgetown, and Cat Island are often only at 10% occupancy.

Either way Good Luck!

Pinnacle 3701 both Gulfstream.. Colgan 3407 CA was Gulfstream..

I know some good guys who went to Gulfstream.. Good friends of mine. Haven't flown .1 with them though.

You must be talking about the old shut down academy, not an actual paid employee.

Yes, you are correct. The accidents mentioned above featured former Gulfstream Academy graduates who flew the 1900 on the line and then went their ways to Colgan and Pinnacle.

The bashing is stupid. Gulfstream offered a service and some pilots took up on that service for a cost. Gulfstream has also hired street pilots, both CAs and FOs in its past history. I know many pilots who have successfully launched their careers at Gulfstream, moved onto airlines like Pinnacle, and then onwards to Fedex, Continental, etc.

There is no "lowering the bar" if you go to Gulfstream Academy. The real bar-lowering has been done with ALPA's ineffectiveness post-9/11. Anyway, Gulfstream is a safe, legit operation and anyone who uses this FO program to say it's unsafe is only using an emotional reasoning, not a factual one. Gulfstream is one of the few regionals to have a 100% safe fatal-free record. It also offers a path other than CFIing or banner towing to get to other regionals. To each his own, but lets end the unnecessary bashing.

Who the hell goes to a regional to qualify for another regional? Oh, you mean sucke...um...people who pay big money to play with airplanes? All those bad loans probably contributed to the great recession!

Let us not forget the FO on Comair 5191 was also a former Gulfstream-er.

Noted sir. I can't seem to draw the "coincidence" card here.. It's too obvious.

Just one example: Why doesn't the sector of the industry represented by ALPA not compensate on experience aka national seniority list?

Because every time it came up some CEO would start an alter ego type carrier with a non union group of pilots who would undercut the entire one list process.

And I'm talking about 50 years prior to Freedom A and GoJet.

So how much would number 1 on the seniority list get paid? 1,000,000/yr? lol

Eh? I'm just sayin' that if pilot A wanted to go from one airline to the next due to what ever reason why should the guy have to start out at first year pay. I'm not talking about cutting line for upgrade but wouldn't it be nice to be paid for your level of experience?

Of course it would.

Fortunately or unfortunately, there isn't much political focus on achieving such an agreement right now.

I'm just messin' with you. Its not a bad idea on paper... who knows how well it would work with the real world. What would happen if company A furloughed a bunch of FOs but no one else did, then FOs at company B and C pay progression and benefits would be slowed down because of the financial woes of company A. It would just be tough to work for say American, then the UAL merger goes bad, gas jumps and UAL furloughs 200 of which 100 are above you in seniority at a different airline? Its bad enough worrying about your own company, now you'd have to worry about the issues with other companies as well. Just my opinion I guess.

The union could be set up to where you bid on which company you work for based on your senority. The number of moves you make from company to company could be set on a time based limit to not burden the companies with additional training. What do you think?

Those of us at Colgan have said this for a while, jokingly. However, it's apparently coming true.

Gulfstream is becoming the next Colgan.

I'm sure it doesn't hurt that when we had our management purge 2 years ago, several people found soft landing spots at Gulfstream.

Best of luck to the pilot group.

Like most of the Riddle guys? They seem to think that they're too good for anything but a $3K a month job flying a jet when they graduate. Not that they're all like that, but the ones I know have that attitude.

I think the idea of a national seniority list is a horrible idea. Mine as well just have one national airliner because that's the only way that would ever work
