I go to Gulf Shores Alabama a few times a year. I can't find a rent-able 172 or twin to fly over the beach?

Who knows a place close that I can rent a nice place without a 3 hour checkout?

Thanks

I haven't had much interaction with out of state FBO's but I don't think any will rent without a checkout.

Not much in Gulf Shores. Closest would be Pensacola or Milton. I am in Milton if you need help. Everyone will require a checkout though I think 3 hours is excessive. If you have non owned aircraft insurance I know of a nice Cherokee 180 that can be rented reasonably.

I understand the checkout , and don't mind the checkout .............. all I want to do is fly down the beach and film my family on the beach!

Some places want a 3 hour checkout , some places look at your logbook and license and just make you do a touch and go!

There are two airports close to Gulf Shores , neither have a plane to rent , unless you want to pay $300 for a 20 minute Bi-plane ride!:panic:

If that's all you want to do, the easiest and most cost effective way would be to do just one dual flight down the beach. You're going to pay for a CFI anyway for a checkout, then pay for the plane again on your beach flight. Might as well let the CFI fly you while you film and save the cost of a flight.

WOW , I never would have thought of that!:sarcasm:

Are you Einstein's great grandson?:sarcasm::rolleyes:

My question was , Where , not how? Dude:sarcasm:

You asked a question.

He gave a response.

You didn't like it and responded with a smart-ass comment.

If you don't like his response forget it and move on.

Complicated I know, but yet so simple.

Ok Captain Jep , uh , also , where 200 foot of the deck , do you want the gear down?:sarcasm:

The fact that someone allows Wimpy to fly passenger's is all the reason anyone needs to question airline h.r. departments.

You know, you ask for something that's not going to happen -- renting a plane without a checkout -- and then you get all pissy when someone gives some good advice.

I know that the good book says I'm not supposed to judge lest I be judged. When it comes to you, I think God will give me an exemption.

I'm not going to post the judgment I've made because it would get me a red card.

Honestly, with an attitude like that people aren't going to want to help you. I hate to say it but if I saw this thread before you asked about the G1000 disk, I may have not sent it to you. Ian was nice enough to make a suggestion, take it for what it's worth.

Albert Einstein has five great-grandchildren:

Thomas, b 1956, California
Paul, b 1958, France
Eduard (Ted), b 1960, Los Angeles
Mira Yehieli, b 1965, Israel
Charly, b 1971, Switzerland

Ian's too young to be any of them, silly!
