hello, long time reader first time poster. to make a long story short, i'm getting married in late july and am hoping to get a regional slot (piedmont, psa, tsa, pinn, asa) that starts in june. is this a feasible time-frame? do any regional's have fairly short ground school lengths or policy's on situations like this?? any help appreciated!

No way dude. At best, a Turbo Prop 121 ground school will be 6-7 weeks. Ground school at a Jet operator will be 8 weeks or longer, this may or may not include IOE (which is part of training). Better get in a class now or wait until after the wedding. They will not give you time off during training for a wedding, but should accomodate that once your on the line despite not having any vacation days.

I would definitely not try to set a class date for June with a wedding in July. If you miss a day of class, you're either a.) Fired or b.) Sent back to the beginning of training.

At ASA we have 6 weeks of ground school, 3 weeks of sims, and then 2-3 weeks of IOE before hitting reserve. My class also had some 'breaks' ranging from 1 week to 4 weeks off.

Piedmont's ground school is only about 2 weeks (AQP). It is followed by 3 days of flow training (in a real plane or a sim), and then 10 sim sessions. This took just over a month for my class. Breaks between activity types and within sim training may vary.

Paid breaks correct?

A whopping $300 per week! :D

Personally, I was able to pick up some trips and students. Also dropped off the kids with grandparents and took advantage of the free hotel for a romantic evening. Can't complain myself!
