It is off the PBS documentary "Carrier" and it was her first launch. I believe it was real.

Actually, I think it was from Speed and Angels which followed 2 pilots through one of the last F14 qualification classes.

I remember it now. It was actually on Hulu a few months ago, I dunno if it still is. Well worth a viewing.
