Great Lakes Airlines

I was wondering if anyone had any information about Great Lakes Airlines, are they a good company to work for? How much flight time do there pilots get a month? Are there planes well kept or do they have issues? Is this a good way to build hours to reach the regional minimums? Any information will be helpful and thank you all for your time.
 
A quick Google search on them might cause your computer to burst into flames. They are famous for being a bad place to work and will likely go out of business soon. I know nothing about you but I know you can do better.

They've got some "challenges", primarily that they're having extreme problems staffing their airline. So extreme that they've pulled some seats out of their aircraft to qualify under a different subpart of the FARs that govern them in order to alleviate some of their staffing issues, read: hire lower time pilots.

There ARE pilots qualified to do the job, but their cost structure for better or worse, doesn't allow a pay structure to attract them.

That's about as easy as I could put it.

I mean, their bases and the type of flying they do is cool...and the airplane is cool. But that is literally it - from everything I've read, and from actually riding on them...it's the worst airline I've ever even heard about. I would love to work there if the wages and working conditions were approximately 300-400% higher...
 
There are poorly managed mall "Subway" sandwich shops, and there are Ruth's Chris.
 
Think of the children.

All those knuckle children wasted by single Lakes pilots who don't have enough time or money to find a woman.

There are better ways to do this - at places where you can make livable wage and be treated with a modicum of respect.

I think with those exact thoughts that's how they somehow get people to fall into their trap.

A new pilot there was telling me they're going to be flow to American or any other major in 3 years (didn't even have anywhere close to ATP mins) :rolleyes:

It is known as Great Mistakes for a reason.
