Grease

What type of grease do you use on cessna airframes. The manual has a bunch of different mil specs but says they "are not mandatory". I have seen a bunch of people use wd-40 a lot. I have never seen powdered graphite for the piano hinges, and some people have recommended LPS-2 for hinges, pulleys, etc.. What do you guise usually use to lubricate various airframe components?

Grease: Generally whatever milspec is called for. Usually Aeroshell 7 (MIL 83277) on stuff like torque links and trim screws, Mobil 22 (MIL 81322) for wheel bearings, Aeroshell 5 or 6 for props (depends on what the overhaul facility used).
General lubricating oil (usually called out as MIL-L-7870): LPS2. Usually goes on stuff like piano hinges, pulley bearings, eye bearings, etc.
Silicone ONLY on Lycoming starter bendixes.
Grease-based anti-seize on brake caliper pins.

I think that's about it.

Aeroshell 5 on normal grease fittings
Aeroshell 17 on flap jackscrews (Some Cessnas require it per AD)
LPS2 or spray graphite on piano hinges & rod ends.
LPS1 on Yoke tubes and seat rails.

Don't the stupid Cessna retract singles take some special grease on the landing gear actuator gears? Like Aeroshell 33 or something?

That's a good question, I tend to stay far away from those ;) it could be
