but i sincerely want to know you guys expert opinion. im currently enrolled in a 141 school in college, and im getting ungodly screwed on instructor availability. im considering transferring to a different college, switching majors from professional aviation to anything business related, and getting everything under 61, since its a lot cheaper, and i can fly as often as i feel. but anyway, here goes.


Are airlines more apt to hire

A. 141 Trainees
B. 61 Trainees
C. Does not make a difference.

Makes absolutely no difference. I have yet to have the interviewer leap from the table and scream "Holy crap....you did your training part 141!?!?!?? How soon can you start!!".
 
They don't care where you learned to fly! In the end, the certificate in your wallet looks the same as the next guys and comes with the same privileges.
 
Being a safe and competent pilot is more important than where you got your ratings.

which i understand there is a LOT of grey area in the answer to this question, but all things considered. if my goal was to one day fly for an 1)airline or 2) 135,

how much does a professional aviation degree actually benefit you? is time really all that matters? would it be a better idea to pursue a degree in a different field? (business etc)

It wont benefit you at all. Get a different degree which will allow you to have a plan B for jobs.

Learn from my mistake...
