Got selected...

For an air slot in the navy. No big deal :)
Congratulations. I flew big, fat, slow, aircraft in the Navy and Reserves for about ten years. You'll have a great time.

Plenty of Navy guys around here if you have any questions.

Congrats! I'm surprised MikeD didn't quote any of his favorite lines from "An Officer and a Gentleman" after the AOCS comment...

I tried to find my normal video of Lou Gossett Jr and Richard Gere that I post, from the movie. But it was removed from youtube for some sort of copyright gobbldygook.

Thanks everyone.

Passed my physical test.
61 pushups, 85 situps, 9:30 1.5mi run.

Could have gotten a few more on PU & SU but wanted to save some energy for the run.

Now just waiting for a letter stating what class I go to!

For AOCS?
AOCS died at least 15 yrs ago. I was near the end. I hear a Doors song coming on. Anywhoo it is combined with OCS. OCS used to just turn out the shoes and the shoes are no longer shoes because they can wear brown shoes and prolly aviators can wear black and not be keelhauled. They are now prolly more fork and knife and less mud pit and water hoses with the Gunny. "I got no where else to go".

Congrats to PGT

That's an excellent score!

did you always have 20/20 or did you get into the Navy's PRK study program?

Think you are confusing two things here. PRK (LASEK) has been approved for quite a while now, while LASIK is under study currently. AFAIK, the LASIK study is only open to winged aviators, not applicants. Just pointing this out to clear up any confusion, in case some applicant types are trying to get in on the new LASIK action.

Re: PRK, I will say that I know several guys who had it done, got accepted, came to flight school, and have had their vision regress. Not to the point where they are phsyically disqualified, but to the point where they needed contacts eventually (they all noticed this when we were in ACM)

Chaps my a** how much faster the Navy moves than the AF. If I'd gone Navy I'd already be a commissioned Ensign.

Your stats sound good, best of luck at OCS.

Yeah sorry about that. A few articles I read online about the Navy PRK study dated back a couple of years ago. These articles stated that PRK was under study and that LASIK was not allowed whatsoever.

So it looks like time has passed in a favorable manner by PRK being allowed and now LASIK being studied

hey if you don't mind me asking, whats your vision like? did you always have 20/20 or did you get into the Navy's PRK study program?

Last few years I've had eye exams by civilian doctors and it always came to 20/15, at MEPS it was 20/20, I think that's due to little sleep and exhaustion. One of my friends has 20/12 vision, crazy!

Congratulations! What do you want to fly?

Preferably fixed wing, I've always like the Hornet but I'd be happy with anything that has wings.

Good choice

Study hard my friend, and don't let the tough times ahead get you down. Try not to stress grades, but have a good attitude and know when to ask for help if you are struggling with some particular stage. It's VERY stressful at times, but believe me, when you are up there on that stage getting your wings pinned, it is ALL worth it, regardless of what you end up flying. Best of luck to you!

When I was a young child my grandfather (former Navy) gave me a t-shirt that I proudly wore. It had a picture of a battleship. It read,

"The Big Guns are in The Navy!"

At the time, I didn't get the innuendo!
