Just got the call from Dawn in Houston, scheduling my Continental Express/Express Jet interview! Nervousness sets in...

Who knows WHAT I'll do.

I dunno, I know the whole 'jet' thing is tempting, but if I were you, I think I'd stay put for now.........

How do the pay scales, QOL, job security, & future at each compare?

Pay is higher at XJET (particularly with negotiations going on, pay might increase and work rules improve). Job security? Who knows. I don't feel like there is much here, and I don't know if there is much at XJET either. I do know that ATA is sinking quickly, and that causes a nervous twitch. Future is completely uncertain here, which could be good or bad. Who knows, in one year we could be a huge airline with jets and multiple domiciles. Or, we could have 17 Saabs and no movement.

I think the biggest drawbacks for me leaving would be: Commuting to EWR or IAH from ORD, having to start over in seniority/pay/training/reserve. Plus, I feel like this is my home, and it's not easy to leave.

Well I might just need to see if they even like me first.

I always get ahead of myself like this.

just make sure you go to the interview.. and then make your decision! you don't want to waste an opportunity that hits you squarely in the nose (mainly the interview itself)...

oh.. and GOOD LUCK!!!

Matt, I thought you decided to sit tight?? I mean it never hurts to go to an interview, but it'll be very tempting to go. I would definitely stay right where you are. In a while if there's "no movement", then leave, but I wouldn't split before that. Just my advice, you'll do what you will.

I'd agree with Johnny, I'd maintain my seniority if I could. However, not being there, I don't know how bad things really are looking.

Who knows. I most likely won't go anywhere. I like it here too much. I just hope we get our shiznito together.

What the heck, go to the interview. If nothing else, it'll be good practice. And remember, the best to look for a new job is when you currently have one!

Interviewed today in Houston. HR called and left a message while I was flying home that I am scheduled for the final interview Aug 3. Projected class date, should I get the offer, either Aug 8th or 16th! Happening fast!

I was VERY impressed with the company while down in Houston. I am nearly positive I'll make the jump should I get an offer. Things are changing fast at my company, and not for the good.

Are you able to elaborate on your last statement? I'd fully understand if you weren't able to, also.

There are just many signs of financial hurt here. Up-ing the bid windows to 80+ hours, while keeping pay guarantee to 75 hours. Removing all blankets and pillows from flights. Moral in the crapper. 717 deal at ATA dead. Things like that.

Yes. Our VP of Ops has repeatedly said that seniority at the next place is better than 2 weeks here. We are welcome back. We have actually taken pilots back who previously gave less notice when furloughed from their next career carrier.

I still believe our VP of Ops is one of the best in the industry.

Another reason not to split so fast. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif

Ok, ok, I'll shut up now! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
