when you get hired by express jet , is the training done in nj? or houston?
from what i hear you do your training in nj then move down to iah for reserves. is this true? im moving down to tx perhaps soon and that would be an option.

Everything (with the exception of IOE) is done in Houston. Our training center, instructors and sims are down there. The only place you might go someplace else is down to Hobby (some even got Orlando) for sims or to another base for IOE.

As to the 69 airplanes, I have heard from numerous sources, including one of the guys that interviewed me, that the 69 planes aren't going away. No guarantees in this industry, but I am not worried.

Congrats! and welcome aboard.

Don't believe anything about those 69 airplanes until it happens. What do you think they're going to say to guys interviewing--"uh, yeah we'll hire ya because we need guys so we can fly increased block hours CO has given us for the next couple of months 'til they pull the rug out from under our feet, then I'm sorry, but you'll be out on the street."

I don't think anyone except the upper mgmt knows whats likely to happen until it actually does, and until then they gotta keep the morale up. I think the only thing we can do is be prepared for the worst and hope for the best. And for now just sit back relax and enjoy all the wild speculation and crazy rumors--and start studying your flows!

Thanks stultus, hope to see you on the line! I do need to start getting the flows down while try to get my life together to move to Houston, sell my townhouse, forward mail etc.

727 - I got my interview sooner that I would have if DCA had not sent it. Like I said (or at least tried to say) I had submitted my application to ExpressJet in January, but it wasn't until Brianna here at school sent it again that I got a call within a week. That was a case with quite a few of the guys here. They didn't hear from ExpressJet for a couple months, but as soon as the school sent thier stuff they got a call/e-mail within a week. It just got me an interview sooner that's all.

Seriously, that's all the help I get with a new name? So far I like "tx>everythingelse" and I guess I will have to go with that unless I hear something better.... I know there are some more creative ideas out there.... Doug, it is possible to change my name isn't it?

I guess it's gonna be "tx>everythingelse" thanks frog. You win..... um..... uh.... how about my grattitude and the knowledge that you have helped a fellow pilot. (Sorry, that's about all I can afford right now, just wait till I am making that FO salary, then perhaps I can shower you with real gifts like lunch, or perhaps some zippy new Continental baggage tags or somethng)

Doug, how do I go about changing my screen name?

Congrats on joining ExpressJet-careers ... or so it seems sometimes with the amount of guys we have there.
