Got a call from FlightSafety a couple days ago offering me an instructor gig on an airplane
in which I am already typed and possess over 1,000 hours. The kicker: Not one but TWO
YEAR training contract and IT IS NOT PRORATED. If I were to quit 729 days into my
employment I owe them THE TOTAL AMOUNT FOR TYPE RATING.

No thanks.

If you're already typed, then there should be no reason for them to put you under a training contract to recoup the cost.

Silly.
 
They are just playing the numbers game to see if anyone is dumb enough.

I'd hate to be a sim instructor in a short staffed facility. It would be a nightmare of late nights and overtime. No thanks.

What's the type?
 
This is a new deal at FSI, two year contracts for new hires....doesn't matter what you bring through the door! Guess they've had too many instructors use them for the networking and leave as soon as the first flying job offer comes their way.

On the other hand, if they were an honest group of people and a company that actually cared about their employees (which they are NOT, imo), they wouldn't have this problem, now would they?
 
Sim instructor jobs should be highly sought after and hard to get because they are so awesome.

Sadly the opposite is true and good instructors are few and far between.

In my own personal experience, as soon as the pilot market heated up the good instructors bailed.
