Good Start on 2...

So...

I'm on Day 2 of a 4-day trip. My wife calls me up and says she feels a little "wierd". Braxton Hicks contractions were ramping up, and she really felt that this was all leading to the big day... 5 days early, and thought she was on her way to the hospital.

I call the chief pilot's office as I'm about to takeoff from DAY to EWR. No one answers so I leave a detailed message. I land in EWR, check my messages, and the Chief Pilot's Admin has changed/dropped my schedule and set me up with a Positive Space home within 1 hour of arriving in EWR.

I get home and she's not on the way to the hospital... just sitting at home with her feet up still feeling "weird", but very glad I was home.

We go to bed and at 4:30am... she turns to me and says... "Bob... my water just broke."

Off to the hospital! Needless to say... our second birth was much easier than the first. Once fully dialated she only had to push through 4 contractions and out popped my new baby girl!

Baby and Mommy are doing wonderful! Kudo's to my wife for feeling "wierd" enough to cause me drop my trip and get my keister home (I could have been stuck in OMA on a 19 hour overnight)... and major kudos to my company for making it happen, seemlessly!

Dude!

Congratulations!

(Hey, how does one pronounce "Rangeley"?) :)

congrats good luck to the years ahead. is it normal for airlines to give you leave like that on such short notice? it seems like that is a great place to be working. but enough said congratulations and best of luck to your wife and kids.

Congratulations!!! sept 13th is a good day to be born... it's my best friends birthday too!!

my sister had her 2nd within a 20 minute timespan.. sounds to me as your wifey had the same type of labor? nice and easy?

how does big sister feel about her new little sister?

Give her our best!! :)

Good question... but it's pretty easy... "Range - Lee"... not "Rang - Lee" as some nurses have already mispronounced! ;)

Super easy labor... compared with 19 hours last time with 5 hours of HARD pushing. Sooooo much easier this time around.

Chris... ummm... maybe next time. Besides, I never got that naming bonus we discussed! ;)

Big Sis is VERY excited... she was holding her today and singing to her. She has been so very helpful in getting ready for her to come home. I think she's going to be a wonderful big sister and mommy's little helper.

amorris... I'm sure most airlines have some sort of "emergency leave" that is granted due to situations like this. Can't say for certain... but it would only make sense. Regardless... my company took care of me... and even called my wife when I was in the air from EWR to DFW and asked if she needed anything and gave her a number to contact them where they could patch her through to me in the air if needed. I really, really, like my company... that was so awesome that they took the extra steps to do that.

Do you hear that sound Bob? That's my heart breaking.

But seriously, congrats on a healthy child. Has your wife said "Never again!" yet?
LOL! I thought I heard something... ;)

Thanks Chris, and no, not yet. We've always wanted 4... but we may be settling on 3... however... we are much older than we thought we'd be at this stage... so now it's more of a "if it happens again... it happens." No more stress in "Trying too hard" to make it happen.

Regardless... I'm EXTREMELY happy with my two healthy one's I have now. :)

Congratulations! Wow, you certainly are a Mainer at heart. Rangeley is a beautiful part of Maine... I'm sure it fits your daughter perfectly.

Congrads on the second child. Now figure out what you're gonna do for the next 6 weeks...if you follow me...;)

Max he is going to be to busy changing lots of diapers and warming formula....way to busy to think about anything else except his other daughter and spending time with her

We wanted to and had settled on that. Then we go custody of a 4 month old and as of July the adoption was complete. I could not be happier with 3. She will be 2 in Dec and my next oldest is 7 so a nice gap. The baby is still lots of baby fun

Yea but damn...six weeks??? I'd go effin crazy...good thing I don't have to deal with it!

Congratulations Bob.. There are so many bad things you hear about regionals and crappy work rules, I'm glad to hear they took care of you.
