Good Opportunity? CAE Simflite

Sounds good to me! One of the few good looking Citations! Are they able to get you into a class at a decent time? I've heard some people are having to wait a few months.

I was given some dates for groundschool. The program manager said that they were full, but could get me in groudschool. The sim, he said he was not sure about when I could get in there. I am thinking about the Feb. 12 class. If I don't get that one I will have to wait until 4/1/08.

Can someone post or better yet, PM me some contact info for someone at SimuFlite who helps coordinate this program? I emailed them and left a voicemail there a few months ago, with no response. I don't know if I was even talking the right person. I just called the front desk and they handed me off to someone in the Citation department. Thanks

Good luck to all you guys trying to make contacts and get jobs...and good luck with training. It should be an exciting time for you guys.

Hi John...I start my initail training at SF on the 4th of Feb on the BE-200...looking forward to it...

A quick question for those of you that are current or past supporting crewmembers:

What are your guy's multi-engine time? I don't have much...21hrs. Is this enough to get contract work? It'd be great if the 65hrs I have in the sim counted! The availability of MEI instructors at my flight school is down to one and he's booked for about a month. After that I'm planning on getting my MEI. Of course I'm also interested if anybody has an other ideas of getting multi-time in the DFW area :)

From what I have heard, it isn't a big deal for your ME time when you are doing right-seat contract work. One of the biggest aspects of getting right-seat work is getting on insurance, of which TT is the bigger deal there, from people I have heard that are there now. One of my friends in the Hawker there has 600+ TT, including his 200+ hours in the Hawker sim, and he isn't close to getting insurance minimums yet ('tis why he doesn't have a job).

One of the strange problems at a place like CAE SF is the newer aircraft you get the higher the flight times are going to have to be for you to get a job in whatever aircraft you are placed in. The newer, faster jets are going to have much higher flight time minimums for insurance, than say a Be-200. So it can certainly change based on equipment and who you know.

Brett, are you still CFI'ing on the side when you aren't at SF?

Well, as Brett already knows, my class date for the SCM course is Feb. 25-27th and I am already being put into the Lear 25, 35, or 55.

I haven't done any flight instructing yet, however I'm in the process of being checked out at a flight school. It was tuff finding a school where I could keep an odd schedule. Most schools around here handle massive amounts of students and need a full time commitment. I'll be starting my MEI in about a month (earlier if an instructor opens up).

Which brings up another question...I've been told everything from log all my time as I would in a real plane, to not log it all. For the moment I log it as a seperate column in my electronic logbook.

Good luck and keep me posted on your CAE progress!

What flight school did you get on at? The place that I instructed at would probably be willing to hire you as a part timer....that's if you don't mind flying crappy equipment and having mostly foreign students. The pay is decent there though.

I'm in the process of getting started at a small program at ADS called LoneStar Flyers. I don't think I'll have many students there, so I'm also looking at another place, we'll see what comes of that.

Any rightseaters done any sim sessions yet? If so, how did they go? I don't go to class until April 1 for the C-650

I just hit #40 yesterday! I've been working my butt off doing 15 sessions in the last two weeks and somehow managing to flight instruct a little bit.

Jesus, Brett. Nice job!

I talked to my boss yesterday and my Lear class is planned for August.
