Good luck Charms?

At the golden pavilion in Kyoto I bought a necklace with a pendant on it that was supposed to signify good luck. After I started wearing it, it did seem like my luck seemed to get better. The necklace has broken a few times, so I took the pendant off and it now lives in my wallet.
Not related to the pendant, but it always seems like things just kind of work out for me. Things get tight financially and out of nowhere the bank through which we have our mortgage happens to send up a check saying "your taxes were less than we expected, here's some money."
That kind of thing.
