Good Job FBI

Huh, didn't know such a thing existed but makes enough sense. I'd wager they need to do a much better job at managing the situation obviously and yeah, maybe not choose a relatively nice hotel in a popular downtown location.

My dad was the readiness NCO for the hospital he worked at. He would routinely use me or my friends when we were teenagers to run into sections of the hospital, find the first white coat or nurse and say “my sister/brother fell down and isn’t breathing” or something of the like. That would energize them same as a fire drill which for first responders is critical. Similarly…

The mayors office and local law enforcement administrations were fully aware this event was going to happen. When it did though the local crazies did what local crazies do, and the same offices completely forgot then acted like their constituents had been violated (see Mayors Bs remarks). Coordination for these events have to be done prior to execution. Same as we get agreements from land/business owners to use their facilities.

Also the unit that immediately apologized was in no way connected to the units that were conducting the training, because 4/160 and the Rangers don’t fall under 7th IDs command structure. When phone calls started happening all the command structure at 16th CAB was energized with demands to know “what the hell are you guys doing!” They had no idea because it wasn’t their training or their assets. Meanwhile the organization that was doing the flying belongs to USASOC and are just residents of the base.

Depending on what kind of situation they were simulating investigating, that's exactly the type of hotel they would encountering in real life.

Train how you fight.

It can be great being a tenant unit of a base, that is, a geographically separated unit (from home unit) that doesn’t fall under the current-base chain of command.

My reserve helo rescue unit was a longtime tenant unit at DMA, still is. The base unit is obviously attack jets, before they acquired the active duty rescue group that used to be a tenant also. But the focus was on the fighter jets. One evening, some rural rancher called the base to make a noise complaint about our helos which had been transiting to a working area east of the ranch. The base Wing PA shoeclerk who the call was routed to, replied that it couldn’t have been any aircraft frkm DMA, because DMA doesn’t have helicopters, only fighters, at the base.

Meh, I somehow doubt the decor & linens is gonna make the difference.

Nope, but getting information from the front desk, securing the exits, handling bystanders, and a whole lot of other opsec stuff is very different in a Motel 6 and Ritz.

Fair point and current practice is unlikely to change so one can hope some lessons were learned here and applied down the road.

Humm Maybe DL pilots enjoy Dominatrix activities.. :p
Any DL people around ?

"placed him in the shower" = Water boarding ?

This guy is very lucky, if he works this mishap correctly, the lawsuits against the agencies involved and the hotel (for allowing this type of activity) should provide him with a pretty good retirement package

You'd think.

But honestly, my dad got roughed-up in the 1990's when the cops thought he was dealing drugs (which is hilariously stupid) and a lot of attorneys thought it would be a losing case.

Sadly, this isn't new, shocking and will largely continue unabated. It's probably happened twice in Arizona by the time I hit 'post reply'.

While I applaud "law and order" and consider it necessary for the existence of any free state, the state of our police & judicial system is such that it causes me to weep.
