Umm.. uh... hard to tell.. What the heck is a Crusoe processor? Definitely not AMD or Intel. Also, 1G is pretty 'old' in modern CPU speeds. I'd stay away from those. 1500 retail my arse if you can get a 1.5+ ghz laptop for under $1000 from HP, Dell etc with more/better options than those!

... i got a Dell catalog in the mail yesterday and they had much better deals for comparable money. what you described does not look like much of a deal at all. for a wintel system of those paramerters it's a bit much. you could get used (fairly recent though) stuff for the same (or less) money that will outperform what you described

ok, how bout these

Thanks again.

not exactly, not there
check this out dell stuff for home & small office
draw yourself a comparison chart for processor, memory, drive
cd/dvd drive and price (monitor - if included)

dell offers some deals where the monitor is included also.
i'm not trying to push dell here, i'm a Mac person, but if you'll spend money on a pc, get something that has support behind it as well.

Don't mess around with off-brands when you buy a laptop. You can't correct problems by simply swapping out hardware.

Also, I recommend Intel processers, since the power/performance ratio is much better. AMD chips are power hogs -- makes your laptop hot and sucks the batteries dry quickly. If you don't believe this, just go to any computer store that has a dozen or so laptops on display, and put your hand over the keyboard. I can pick out the AMD laptops with my eyes closed. Laptop manufacturers try all kinds of throttling techniques to help with the AMD heat problem, but it makes your computer slow to react.

Still, the $500 pricetag is tempting.

Check out the notebooks on Newegg.com. I buy all of my hardware from them, excellent company to deal with. They just started carrying Notebooks and carry some of the best.

I agree with the above post, don't fool around with no name brand notebooks. Buy from a reputable company. Here is the link to Newegg.com:
