Gold stripe observation

I read the e-mails, but I was told by Mr. Tutt himself to either wear the gold or silver epaulettes, but don't wear the silver hat with gold blazer. Then a company e-mail tells us to wear the gold epaulettes. Then I have chief pilots saying to wear what ever I want until we get the rest of the uniform because of this monkey show transition.

The CPO has the most sanity in all of this mess.

Where what you want until we have all the parts necessary.

Common sense. Now that is refreshing. ;)

No one knows who we are any way.

On the barbie jet side, they're not buying new gold epaulettes for anybody. You'll see most guys walking around with the same yellowish ones Continental has, and the new hires/new upgrades have the new gold ones.

Saweet! Out come the assess leather chaps!

I was thinking more along the lines of.....

But then again, I only work like 4 days a month so no one would notice anyways.

I'm not a big fan of the Christmas ties or any of the "special" ties that people are allowed to wear.

Really? I'm not a fan of the flag ties, because I think it's disrespectful to use the flag as a piece of clothing, but other than that, speciality ties don't bother me if they're approved.

I love the holiday ties. We have an official AirTran holiday tie, and I also have three or four others that I wear. They always illicit positive comments from the passengers. I think it's a good way to show holiday cheer while still being professional.

Just nod and smile. If they refuse to make eye contact, just leer suggestively like you've got a big hole in your basement and plenty of lotion for them once they're in it.

Half kidding here. ;)

On a more serious note, I salute people I know. Just a nod and a tap of the eyebrow with the forefinger. If they have a sense of humor, I'll break it off proper and render the full hand-salute.

If this doesn't break the ice, push them down the stairs. They're clearly Cylon infiltrators.

If everyone just wore the leather jacket, there wouldn't be this issue about re-striping blazers.

Or just one of these. I used to wear it only before or after a trip or while commuting, but now I've just sort of started wearing it always.

At least you guys get a head nod. I get the "Who the heck are YOU with?" badge stare. :)

Tell me about it! I have a goatee and a really goofy hat so I get weird looks all the time. Don't even get me started when we still had 2 1/2 stripes for new FOs. No one knew what to make of me...pilot or South American Dictator???? Luckily that only lasted for a few months before we just went to the standard 3.
