Gold stripe observation

Previously my airline had silver stripes. When we would be in Chicago (which is a lot) we'd come across a lot of Skywest crews. I always wave, nod, or say hi to any flight crew members that I see. Most choose to acknowledge my existence. However, for the most part, I appeared invisible to most (but not all) of the Skywest crews.

So now we have gold stripes. Now my wave results in a half wave that turns into them trying to fix their spikey hair when they realize I'm part of surejet east.

Just an amusing observation I thought I'd share.

I think it has to do more with where the airline is than the color of the strips. Most ASA guys in MEM I see look at me like I've got a third head, that's if they're willing to look at me..

Right now we are transitioning. We had to send our blazers in to be restriped (right when it started getting cold) but not everyone has gotten theirs yet. Our wings are still silver and they claim the gold ones will be arriving sometime in the first quarter...which really means next fall.

The transition is absolutely horrible and everyone has different uniform parts. I haven't changed a thing and won't until we have all the required pieces. You'd think they would come up with a better system, but again, this is the same management that came up with the name SureJet.

I'm past the point of letting things like this bother me. I just find it amusing. :-)

Ha, I am getting such mixed stuff on what to do. I have the gold blazer, but I was told to wear the gold epaulettes and wait for the rest that can be here who knows when. I'm taking my gold shoulders off today and going back to titanium (that sounds cooler than silver). We have so many jumpseaters that are confused on who they jumpseating on and who is operating the flight.

In all honesty, I've always thought silver stripes just look classier. The G in gold equals Gaudy.
Blue and silver...classy uniform for a classy airline.

What do you propose? Have everyone wear a black trench-coat over the old uni until all the pieces come? They could have planned better to get the wings in earlier but they have to get 1800 pilots uniform blazers tailored from silver to gold. And its winter time so we need those jackets. If you're not transitioning til you get all the uniform pieces then you'll be wearing a gold blazer with silver epaulets.

Getting mixed stuff on what to do? Do you read company emails lol? Once you get your gold blazer you transition to gold epaulettes. Wings scheduled to come sometime in the Spring, which probably means sometime in the Summer

I've had my blazer re-striped before from gold to silver and now I have to get it re-striped again. I wear the leather jacket anyway, and we won't get leather jacket parts until the end of the 1st quarter of 2012, so it'll be close to spring anyway and we will be back to Warner weather anyway.

The so called "gold" stripes aren't really gold anyway. It's like a mustard yellow.

What you do, is...

Have pilots turn in their Blazers in April or May, have the Gold put on over the Summer time, and guess what...

No Mickey Mouse looking operation.

They knew we were going to gold prior to January of 2011.

However, the Geniuses some people think our leadership is, well...they just figured they could want til the last damn minute.

Wing design, fine...put it out for a second vote, and re-vote. Whatever...

But it's pretty naive to think they couldnt have planned this better.

THEN To screw up the Gold ANYWAY so that EVERYONE has to switch?

Hahahaha...yeah...that really builds confidence.

I read the e-mails, but I was told by Mr. Tutt himself to either wear the gold or silver epaulettes, but don't wear the silver hat with gold blazer. Then a company e-mail tells us to wear the gold epaulettes. Then I have chief pilots saying to wear what ever I want until we get the rest of the uniform because of this monkey show transition.

I'll throw a wink at a fellow passerby. ;) Heck, even a good looking f/a gets a little something-something...
