After joining the Navy Reserves in July of this year, they didn't take long to get me orders to Afganistan. 1 year "boots on the ground", extendable to 2 years.
I am having a baby next month too. Man this really sucks.
Thanks everyone. I am going to keep asking everyone where the sub base is at. Can't believe they are sending a squid to the desert.
Due date for baby is Nov 14th. I am being called up Nov 20th. I then go to Virginia for 2 weeks to process in. I return for a month during December. In January I go to training. What kind of training? "Army training Sir" for two months. I then come back home for 1 week and then at the end of Febuary I am off to war for a year. I should have an office type job since I am a Computer Information Technician. Maybe someone can give me some insight on what I may expect. And to think I left active duty because I didn't want to be away from home anymore with a new family. LOL

Ian served over there as well...maybe you can chat with him?
:yeahthat::yeahthat::yeahthat: The Navy is trying to help the Army and Marines out and all ships, I believe, are sending one or two "volunteers" to be boots on the ground, augmenting the other branches.Dude - sorry to hear that. And people actually ask me why I didn't joing the guard when I got out. THAT's why.
