Go Blue!

Thanks everyone...

Michigan is actually (just barely) his second choice; University of Illinois is choice #1 and they tell all early admits on December 15th, so we have to wait until then!

Congrats! My father in law is an alumni of Mich Tech as well is my brother in law. Michigan apparently has rock-solid engineering programs so he's in good hands!

Which type of speciality is he going into? I've got a civil/environmental engineeress lounging on the couch about four feet away if you've got questions.

Kevin - that's awesome! :D Both of my nephews did their undergrad and grad work at U of M....and of course, our Miss Short One is an alumni. :)

Congratulations!

p.s. I sent you the link about my cousin who teaches engineering at Illinois/Urbana ;) Something about design of earthquake mainframes and servers. Maybe I should call him - his brother worked for the aircraft division at GE in Cincinnati.

Michigan is a great school though. :) Very cool!

He's saying aeronautical/aerospace right now, but I'm urging him to keep an open mind as all the programs have a year of general engineering before you pick a specialty...

Excellent!

My younger brother got his undergrad and masters degrees in mechanical engineering from U of M. Great program! Fun town, too.

Tell him congrats, and congrats to you and your wife staplegun! I am a freshman here at the University of Michigan and I am also in the school of engineering. Hopefully by this time next year I will be taking some aerospace classes! Feel free to PM me with any questions. It's an awesome place here. Tell him good luck with his decision!

Congrats!

Your other son must feel horrible knowing that you refer to the other son as number 1. Makes me wonder why my dad always called me number 2.

They both have a pretty good sense of humor...

I also refer to the 2 of them as "the heir and the spare..."

Seriously, the wife and I are consciously very even-handed and they both know that the love and the expectations are shared equally, even though they are very different personalities...

as was stated earlier, i'm an alumn! Congrats - it's a great school, lots of fun people :) He'll have a great time if he ends up there!

CONGRATS!! You must be proud!

Did he look at Michigan Tech for their Enginnering? Just asking as that is where I went for 1 degree.

Staplegun, feel free to swing by my house(by AZO airport) on the way to U of M...not too far away from I-94 :p JCers are always welcome. :)
