Global Entry (renewal)

I'm due for renewal and am setting up an appointment for interview around mid-october.

Given I'm changing jobs it's my last chance to visit the US/fly for a while. I'm thinking seaplanes, maybe even multi. I have SES.

It doesn't have to be a checkride, but it'd be neat to do some flying. For an interview slot palm beach intl looks best, but I'm flexible.

Any thoughts, anyone doing GE renewal also?

Alex

Do you have to re-do the interview? I'm due for a renewal probably next year. I have always thought it was to re-pay the $100 fee and that is that. Let me know.

Yeh overseas nationals seem to have to. Think for us citizens it depends, but generally not.

The London embassy stopped their temporary interview hub in March, oh well.

PBI is a bit of a drive from the Orlando area but better than Phoenix to Nogales in 2012.

Whereabouts are you based?

since I'm in Jacksonville, I may have to drive or fly out to ORL area and do my interview again. Who knows, maybe there is a place closer from here.

Keep checking the availability calendar like a hawk, when I signed up the soonest appointment in PHX was 3+ months away, checked it religiously and got an appointment the following week due to a cancellation

Will do, the Nogales trip was due to having to give up a phx slot last minute.

Will book something next week and try and line up some seaplane around it.

Booked seaplane in Port Orange (Chester lawson, grumman widgeon)

Sanford had GE availability pop up on 25 oct, so that is also planned in.

Will keep you updated on here if it's of interest...

Alex

Most locations will take you on a standby basis if you just show up and wait. Lots of appointments wind up no-showing.

Good to know! Think i'll stick with Sanford, West Palm Beach would have been a drive.

Hoping for no surprises (last time - do you have a letter from your place of work?) - What?! Ended up being fine without...

Always got to be prepared for people not knowing exactly what they're approving or what the requirements are (in 2012 at least!)

Alex.

If you log in and check you are given 5 years to your next birthday. You can renew a year before it expires. Don't let it lapse, that gets tricky.

I've had GE for 2 years now. I probably leave and enter the country a minimum of twice a month and I've never used it. Have never had a need.

Well now you have Automated Passport Control for US citizens, the kiosk benefit is less useful.

For overseas nationals, avoiding queueing and speaking to a CBP officer (when the kiosks work) is a godsend.

Automatically having TSA Precheck must be a benefit though?

[Add your PassID into your frequent flyer program profile to make it appear on the boarding pass]

We have kcm so i dont think I've ever used pre check either.

Ah then you're fine. Gotta love KCM!

Preclearance helps, can't wait for that to come to London.

I just renewed mine last month, took about a week for them to process the application and then I was able to schedule at JFK that weekend. 15 minutes in and out of T4 @ JFK.
