That's true as well. Has the FAA started granting exemptions to that CTP rule so 135 operators can, you know, operate their airplanes with the pilots they train?

Not that I've heard. It's asinine. I'm all for more safety, but in the case of an ATP flying a piston twin some of the things taught in a jet course could be not only unhelpful but counterproductive. Not that it matters much. As stated elsewhere the commercially operated piston twin has about as much life left as the 4-engine pax airliner.

Singles can't be flown 135 beyond gliding distance from land, so I see a continuing role for the piston twins. That role is markets like Nantucket/Martha's and the Bahamas where both distances and serving economies make it work.

Isn't there an exemption of some kind in the works or out there already for turbine singles?

Not that I'm aware of. That being said, a PC-12 at altitude can glide a very long distance if it needs to, so really only the offshore destinations are out of reach. But that's going to be what, less than 10 places?
