Glider Add-On

Wondering if anyone has done a glider add-on to a ppl or comm? I know the pt 61 req's (3 hours, 3 instructing flights, 10 solo flights) but was wondering if anyone could say exactly how long it took them.

I'm really interested in doing it, but on a CFI salary, I need to know a little bit more about the cost.

I'm saving up to add Glider to my comercial ticket.

The price I was quoted was about $1000.


Maybee after that I add it to my CFI liscense as well.

I did the private add-on the slow way - did it over six days (3 weekends), 5.3 hours (3 hrs dual, 2.3 hrs solo), 7 dual flights, 10 solo flights.

The solo flights go quick - a few where you go up to practice your maneuvers, once you get the hang of it, then you can just to pattern tows.

$3000:
$1000 for the glider flight training and rental
$2000 to rent the plane 172RG / BE76 to fly out to the glider site.
After flying a Duchess to the gliderport the first time, I decided I'd never do that again and switched to a 172RG.

The college that I'm going to has motor gliders, so people can get their glider add-on as an elective course I believe, I'm not sure how many people do that though.
