Glass in my foot

Hello Dr. Forred or anyone that might be able to help me out. A few years ago I managed to get a small piece of glass in the bottom of my foot. I wish I did, but I never did anything about it. From time to time I will sit down and try to work on getting it out. Still to this day I can't get it out. Occasionally I will be doing something whether it is walking, running, or just sitting down and I will feel it.

Am I at the point where I have waited too long to get it out on my own? I really don't have a clue what to do. Any help you or anyone can give would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Let it work its way to the surface of the skin and see the doc so he can get it out. Digging for it until it is at the surface of the skin is full of problems and frequently unsuccessful.

How deep is it? Are you sure it's a piece of glass?

Personally, if it's reachable I'd be type to go in after it myself. But I've been known to use kitchen knives to dig out splinters and drill holes in my own fingernails to let the blood out after shutting my hand in my truck door...... Probably not the best, most medically sound practices.

I had a piece of glass lodged in my foot once a couple years ago. I couldn't let it go. I dug it out (not deep), cleaned up with soap & water, smeared it with neosporin and bandaged it up.

If it's not something that's happened recently, I'd get it looked at by a professional :)

Thanks a lot! :)

I'm sure it's glass. I actually remember when it happened. It's in there pretty deep. I'm just like you though. I have tried numerous times with a bunch of different stuff to get it out but nothing. Uuuugggghhhh. It's so annoying. Maybe I can convince you to operate on me? ;)

I'll get some stuff from work and come on down and do some minor surgery!! And I'll only charge you 49.95. I really do need to work on my suturing, they won't let me do it at my new job:(

Judt kidding, let it work to the surface.
