Getting Supplies Into Haiti.

I know at this time everybody is trying to do their part to help those in Haiti. I have a few questions for any of you flying Haitian relief missions, or those of you that work for Vision Airlines out of Las Vegas. Over the past few days I have recently been working with the Las Vegas Haitian Disaster Relief Committee. Since the quake they have received many generous donations, and a lot of supplies. The problem they have is getting these supplies into the country. My question to you is: Do you know of any agencies out of Nevada, Arizona, or California that may have space available on their aircraft for these supplies? And if so do you know of any way of arranging this? If you think you can help it would be greatly appreciated. I know that I am asking a lot but it would bother me if I didn’t at least ask. Thank you. Please P.M. me with any details.

I know that the airline which I work for is flying relief flights into PAP but I didn't want to sound like a fan-boi! :)

If you don't get any response, let me know, and I'll try to pull some strings to make it a little smoother.

At Vision, we have two of our 737's doing Haitian relief work daily since last Thursday. Those aircraft are based out of MIA. Please call one of these three numbers at Vision for an answer to your question;

1. 678-467-3760

2. 678-925-7982

3. 404-428-9009

Good Luck!

Thanks for your reply. I have already called Vision and spoke with larry out of Las Vegas. He gave me a number to call a Mr. Meers out of MIA. They said that they could more than likely accomadate our needs if we can get the supplies to MIA. If we can't get the supplies out of the valley, the worst case scenario will be to drive a Uhaul to MIA. Thanks Again. :)

Yea, those three numbers would get your to Mr. Meers. If transportation to MIA is an issue, you should start contacting other airlines to get it to MIA or trucking companies and Amtrak. I am sure there would be a company willing to get it there for free or extremely cheap.

Keep us updated on the progress!

I just got off the phone with Mr. Meers. He told me that he is going to try to find place to store the supplies in MIA until he has a plane that will fit our load. But all is on the up and up. I am going to get a hold of a couple trucking companies and see if I can get it into MIA. If I can I am going to try and fly into MIA and get everything coordinated. I am a little tight on funds, so hopefully I can get this done pretty cheap.

I am pretty sure I have everything almost complete. I just got off the phone with both ABF Upack and Pods and they are going to call me back to see if they can donate the shipments for free. The only thing that I don't really have is the cash for a ticket, and due to my recent change of job status I don't have Non-Rev's anymore. Can anybody send me a P.M. if they are willing to shoot me a buddy pass so I can get into MIA and make sure everything gets into the right hands?

Well the Supplies are on their way to Miami. They will arrive on Saturday. We have a full semi-tractor trailer full of supplies. Now the trick will be getting them into the country because the Vision Airlines deal fell through.
