Getting poked in the eye

I was recently poked in the eye the other day, and it was no ordinary quick poke. This was a poke with force behind it. (My Nieces way of saying Happy Thanksgiving!anic

I have had no vision imparment or anything, but it does hurt when I touch over the eye and around it. The left side of my eye is very red and bloodshot. Just wondering if this is something to take seriously, or will the pain and redness eventually subside? Its been greater than 24hrs since the accident. Also, what would be the best way to treat this problem?

If you haven't already, you should see an eye doctor and get advice from them after they take a look. Just to be sure.
