Get Those Student Loans Paid ASAP

Just from DCA. He does not have a college degree.

I just saw the DCA thread. Give me a freakin break. It's just the facts. If they don't like exposing the facts about the program, they can complain to my big fat chub.

Regarding the aforementioned flight school: What the heck is this world coming to?

Regarding debt: I feel for your friend, Chicaga. I freak out when my credit card bill is excessive; I couldn't imagine the thought of having tens (or hundreds) of thousands of dollars of debt.

I know someone that had 120k into the program and didn't get hired as a flight instructor. So the theory about buying a job there is buttkiss. (sorta)

Was that $120G's including college or just $120G's from just attending 'ehh ehh ehh'?

No kidding! $120k. Wow. With a modest interest rate of 5% you're looking at $6,000+ per year ($500+ per month) interest alone. I paid just under $500 in interest for the entire year.

I have to admit I was lucky though. I worked my way through college, did it in 3 years instead of 4 to save on room & board, sold my car to pay for the multi, and had parents that paid most of my flight training costs. Had this not been the case, I definately would have gone to a community college and done the FBO thing. There's no sense in spending all that money when you can spend a lot less and end up with a healthier checkbook. For those people that have the extra $$ though, let 'em spend it. A fool and his money... :).

Since nothing is guaranteed in life, taking that (financial) leap of faith to pursue a dream is certainly a gamble. But if you're, say, 22 and are saddled with that kind of debt, I would hope that you have a viable means of paying it. Can he defer monthly payments? If so, I wonder for how long...

I still haven't gotten Sirius and I miss my daily dose of Stern :(

I'm glad someone caught the 'ehh ehh ehh' reference that I stold from Howard!

I miss Stern, too. Haven't gotten eh-eh-eh yet either. Truthfully, I miss Artie the most. Man, that guy had me in stitches with his impersonations of Debbie Schlussel, Blue Iris, Marianne from Brooklyn etc.
