General Aviation: An obnoxious pastime.

The reason you're getting this troll label is because you seem to be coming from a position of ignorance. It's hard for anyone to take you seriously. That is why people made a big deal of mispelling "Leer jet" and "sesna". If you had read anything about the planes you would know the spelling. That's why it's not the same as hear and here. You also paint a picture of business jets only being used by rock star millionares for leisure travel. There is a reason they're called business jets. I am sure that jets out of TEB are being flown by companies you use. You complain about paying for an airport that you don't use. First, I doubt your property value has actually gone down. What's more realistic is it has appreciated slower. That can happen for many reasons. Second, we all pay for programs that will never come to use for us. I'm sure over the course of my life I will pay more to the government than I will get back. Your main position is to close the airport. This will not do anything but overwhelm the other airports in the area. Passing on the problem is not a solution. These are the reasons you are not getting respected here.

So......Was the airport there before your house? I am assuming that since TEB has been around since roughly 1919 it probably was. If so don’t buy a house near an airport if you don’t like the noise!!!!! I mean come on you people buy a home knowing damn well it is at the end of a runway, then you bitch about the noise. Enough people bitch, the airport closes and a community loses a very valuable resource and a great source of employment.

I'm an outsider with an "agenda". I moved out of this thread "Runway Incursion at TEB" since I obviously wasn't wanted there. Besides, those people need to figure out how to avoid incursions, so I figured I'd leave them alone.

My general premise is this: your once “romantic” pastime is turning into a pretentious, obnoxious and un-welcomed annoyance for millions of people. Teterboro is but one example.

If anyone would like to continue the debate, please review the Incursion thread and fire when ready.

Go flying on your own sometime. You might be surprised.

I love seeing airplanes fly overhead. If you don't like airplanes, don't move near an airport.

Seriously though. Why is it pretentious? Why is it obnoxious? Give me a break.

Small GA aircraft make a much smaller noise footprint than any airliners and a lot of cars.

BTW, your car makes a lot more pollution AND is more dangerous than those little cessnas.

Oh, and you didn't even care about the noise until someone said something to you and told you that you shouldn't like it. So apparently the quality of life issue wasn't that bad.

If anyone would like to continue the debate, please review the Incursion thread and fire when ready.

You must be outraged! As any person who appreciates the peace and quiet… seeks out a home in a quiet neighborhood, get a great price on a house and then whamo! The next thing you know someone’s overnight tossed up and airport in your back yard! SOBs!

You know what, I use to fly a loud and I mean loud Stage 1 jet (as loud as they are rated) and I would set higher than mandatory take off settings just because I loved the noise, and people like you didn’t. Airports were in place long before any complainer like yourself set up shop, so how dare someone build closer and closer to an airport get a ‘good deal’ on property then complain about what has been going on there long before you were on the block. Airport territory is airport territory, don’t like it then don’t buy there and keep your trap shut.

I do have to say though. . .that it boggles my mind that some dude with his Cessna would have it based at TEB considering the large corporate / fractional aviation activities.

Move it somewhere else jackass(es).

That is all. And I'm a lover of GA.

For the past week we've had a, excuse me if I'm wrong, a Shorts/Boxcar AF plane landing at our homebase. It's been ferrying troops from Fort Chaffe and others to here at Camp Gruber. They've already received a couple of complaints about the noise and the plane flying low.

One example of a phone call my instructor received:

Instructor: "Davis Field Airport"

Idiots: "Yes, there's been this twin engined airplane flying real low over our house, and it's just making alot of noise... blah blah blah.."

Instructor: "Sir, that's the military ferrying troops from Fort Chaffe back to here to Camp Gruber. So enjoy your freedom."

Click.

People that move near aiports and b*tch about the noise, are like people who move in the mountains and hate the snow..

TI'm just a guy in Bergen Co. who's sick of the noise, pollution and danger that TEB presents. I thought if I could change one mind, or at least evoke a little sympathy from the people who contibute to the nuisance, that might mean something.

Who the hell told you to voluntarily move near an airport if you don't like airport noise and traffic?

Did one of the Sopranos put a gun to your head and make you sign the contract, and are they still there to make sure you live there?

No?

Then you've got nobody but yourself to blame for your situation and I ain't shedding any tears for you.

Don't expect me to feel sorry for someone who made a decision and now wants to whine about it.

Wow. 5,000 deluded fly boys. I just quit smoking, so I know old habits die hard. It's really not in your interest to face facts.

There's nothing anyone in this board can say to convince me (or the thousands like me) that what you do is acceptable.

I see you all re-hashing the same arguments. I spelled something wrong, so I must be wrong. My family moved here, so we must be wrong. Specious. For those not paying attention. TEB wasn't in 1964 what it is now. The mosquitoes where here before me too. Does that mean we shouldn't spray the Meadowlands?

This fact remains: your "hobby" is wasteful and dangerous. If it was just wasteful and dangerous to you, I wouldn't care, but I'm affected. If you're not convinced now, maybe you will be when your CESSNA crashes into a school.

Labels are no substitute for logic. Why is it pretentious and obnoxious? You fly around over thousands of homes at all hours, endangering thousands of people for sh_ts and giggles. How is that NOT obnoxious?

You don't think my property values are affected? Try selling a house in flight path. Keep my trap shut? Not likely.

From this point on, I'll only respond to worthy positions.

Is there a "biz jet" forum you can refer me too? My rants may be better directed to them.

Wow, 15 posts and you come out spitting like that? Presentation of arguments is all about attitude. When you come out guns a blazin', you'd better expect the guns to come blazin' back to you too.

This thread is inches from closure for lack of mature content.

Hey Hack, what do you do for a living? And, once again, how old are you?

By the way, your web site is terrible, and all it does is a bunch of pop-ups. I really did try to see what made you start spouting on an aviation web site on this topic, but to no avail.

Good luck; for the most part, I was nice to you, but it will go downhill, I assure you. If you know how to post, you should have seen the coprorate/charter/fractional forums. I know it doesn't sound like "biz jet", but corporate/fractional/charter is what you're looking for.

How many posts like this are you going to make before you get booted from the site, BTW? Excellent...MQAA knows how to deal with toddlers!! She'll figure out what to do with you.:D

You are huh? I don't believe you.

If FFC is Falcon Field in Peachtree City, GA, stop telling people not to do as you. This isn't some socialist republic, they have every right to base at that airport, especially if it's close to where they live.

For those not paying attention. TEB wasn't in 1964 what it is now.

Yeah, because those jets without any noise reduction made a whole hell of a lot more noise than the quieter ones flying today.

Why don't you man up instead of being a little whining crybaby and MOVE if you don't like it?

It's a simple solution. I suggest you implement it if you don't like where you're living.

And if you don't have the means to do so, then accept reality and deal with it.

But you won't, will you?

You'll continue to squeal like a stuck pig about an airport you voluntarily moved next to.

And you'll continue to deny that it's all your fault and the solution is in your hands.

The problem with your argument is you CAR is more likely to crash into a school and kill kids than any airplane is.

Take your own quote to heart: "labels are no substitute for logic."

Airplanes are exponentially safer than driving a car. A pilot is more likely to die in a car crash on the way to the airport to fly his airplane than

The reason it's not pretentious and obnoxious is becuase when they are flying "around over thousands of homes" they are less likely to crash into them than if they were driving a car down the street. They are not endangering anyone any more than you are when you go to work.

It seems you are afriad of airplanes. Something about them going through the air. Just because they fly doesn't make them unsafe. If you are going to preach that people are obnoxious for flying airplanes, you are also "pretentious and obnoxious" for ever driving a car. And I'll bet you drive a car a lot more than most of those guys fly their airplanes.

Every single time you get in a car you have a better chance of dieing than a pilot does. You also have a better chance of taking others with you. Yet you don't seem to be preaching don't drive cars. And if you drive a car you are a hypocrite.

Just because the method of transportation is different doesn't mean it should be singled out, especially since it is so much *safer* than the alternative.

Guess what? No One cares what you think you crack head! Who the hell goes searching the internet to find people to argue with???

Your not a troll your a dumptruck

NTSB reprots between 01/01/2005 and Today:

7 occurrences at TEB.
No Fatals.
One had any affect on people on the ground outside the airport.

How many people ran red lights (comparable to a runway incursion) in the same period?

How many DUI's?

How many fatal accidents?

How many school-children-deaths?

Remember this site is called jetcareers. This is far more than just a hobby to most of the people on here. How about we find out what you do for a living or what you wish you did and tell you how wasteful it is.

hey hacknow, think about it, you came in to our back yard and with out provocation, spotted off like you have been head of the neighborhood preservation society for the past year. Obviously you are pationate about this and that is a good thing, but either you are young person or just in mature. Don't you think you could have been a little more mature with this. Most people here (maybe me someday) are well educated, hardworking, sincere people and would love to openly debate this issue with you, but not when you hi jack a thread, show no etiquette or class. I suggest you take a break and maybe try this again another day and another way.

:)
